MeshTune Features
A full 3D mesh workshop that runs in your browser: load almost any model, check it for printing, repair it to a watertight mesh, measure and modify it, or create a 3D figure from your webcam. No installs, no accounts, and your files stay on your machine.
View Any 3D Model — No Software Required
Drop an STL, OBJ, PLY, STEP or IGES file and explore it in real-time 3D — meshes up to 40 million triangles, with no hard limit beyond your device's GPU and RAM. Point clouds, textured meshes, multi-part OBJ assemblies, and triangulated CAD models all load straight in the browser.
STL, OBJ, PLY, STEP & IGES
Binary and ASCII STL, OBJ with MTL materials and textures, PLY with vertex colors and point clouds, plus STEP and IGES CAD files triangulated on import. Export any loaded model back out as STL, OBJ, or PLY.
Display Controls
Toggle a wireframe overlay, switch textures and vertex colors on or off, pick a custom body color, and flip between orthographic and perspective cameras. Reset the view to frame the model at any time.
Mesh Details & Dimensions
Read vertex and face counts and real-world bounding-box dimensions, with instant unit conversion between mm, cm, m, and inches.
Transform & Measure
Move, rotate, and scale the model with an interactive gizmo in world or local space. Measure distances between two points, the angle through three, or fit a circle to read diameter and radius — even across a cross-section.
8 Automated Checks for 3D Printing Readiness
Before you send your model to a slicer or print service, MeshTune runs a full suite of mesh-quality checks — powered by a WebAssembly mesh engine running entirely in your browser, on meshes up to 5 million triangles. Every issue is highlighted in the 3D view, and one click zooms straight to it.
Non-Manifold Edges
Edges shared by more than 2 faces — most slicers cannot handle this geometry. Highlighted as yellow lines in the 3D view.
Non-Manifold Vertices
Bowtie vertices where disconnected face fans meet at a single point. Marked with a yellow crosshair for easy location.
Flipped Faces
Triangles with inconsistent winding order relative to their neighbors — causes shading artefacts and slicer failures.
Self-Intersections
Faces that physically pass through each other — must be resolved before the model can be printed as a watertight solid.
Open Holes
Boundary loops where the surface is not closed. MeshTune traces the full hole perimeter and highlights it in yellow.
Degenerate Faces
Zero-area triangles with collinear or coincident vertices — remove them to prevent slicing artefacts.
Isolated Vertices
Vertices not connected to any face — leftover data that should be removed to clean up the mesh.
Duplicate Vertices
Multiple vertices at the exact same position — merge them for correct topology and efficient mesh data.
Turn a Broken Mesh Into a Printable One
Analysis tells you what's wrong — Repair fixes it. In a single click, MeshTune welds duplicate vertices, fills open holes, drops degenerate and duplicate faces, splits non-manifold edges, makes the winding consistent and re-orients the surface outward, then reports whether the result is closed, manifold and oriented. It runs on the same in-browser WebAssembly engine, so your model never leaves your machine.
Watertight in One Click
Fill holes and weld coincident vertices so slicers see a single solid shell — the difference between a failed print and a clean one.
Manifold & Oriented
Split non-manifold edges, fix flipped faces, remove stray shells and orient every normal outward — so the geometry is physically valid, not just visually closed.
Verify, Then Export
A repair verdict confirms the mesh is closed, manifold and oriented, then you export it straight back to STL, OBJ or PLY — ready for the slicer.
A Full Pre-Print Toolset
Everything you need to get a model ready for the build plate — thickness, orientation, overhangs, fit, weight, and size — without leaving the viewer.
Wall Thickness Heat Map
Paints a red → amber → green heat map of wall thickness so fragile spots jump out. Set your own minimum, choose a color mode, mark unmeasured regions, and jump straight to the thinnest area.
Print Orientation
Finds the best way to sit the model on the plate — least support material and the strongest first-layer grip. Review the top orientations with their support and contact figures, then apply one in a click.
Overhang Detection
Highlights every surface steeper than your critical angle — the faces a printer would struggle with unsupported — and reports how much of the model is affected.
Cross-Section
Clip the model along the X, Y, or Z axis with live sliders to look inside, show the cut planes, invert the cut, and even measure across the exposed section.
Volume & Mass
Estimates printed weight from solid volume, a chosen infill percentage, and material density — with presets for PLA, PETG, ABS, ASA, Nylon, TPU, Resin, and PC.
Build Volume Check
Drops a printer envelope around the model so you can see if it fits. Presets for Bambu Lab A1 / X1, Prusa MK4 and Mini, and Creality Ender 3, plus custom X / Y / Z dimensions.
Resize
Rescale by exact X / Y / Z dimensions in millimetres or by percentage. Scaling is proportional and baked straight into the exported file.
Huge-Mesh Decimation
Meshes too heavy to analyze are reduced in-browser — feature-preserving and watertight — so even a 37-million-triangle scan becomes workable. Read how it handled a Nefertiti scan →
Turn a Webcam Frame Into a 3D Figure
Point your webcam, capture one frame, and a pretrained AI depth model turns it into a colourful 3D figure — a relief of whatever faces the camera — that you can spin, make solid, and open in the viewer. It all runs in your browser; no frame is ever uploaded. It's a stylized, front-facing figure at relative scale, not a metric 360° scan. Read the science behind it →
Single-Frame AI Capture
A pretrained monocular depth model estimates depth from one webcam frame and back-projects it — with the captured colour — into a 3D point cloud. A live depth preview shows what will be captured before you press the button.
Shape Controls
Dial in the figure with two sliders: Background cutoff drops the far background so only you or your object remains, and Depth pop sets how far the relief bulges out of the screen.
Make It Solid
Turn the coloured point cloud into a watertight mesh with in-browser Poisson surface reconstruction, then repaint the surface from the captured colours — a solid, colourful figure ready to print or refine.
Open in the Viewer
Send the finished figure straight into the MeshTune viewer — measure it, run the print-readiness toolset, and export it to STL, OBJ, or PLY like any other model.
Model a Printable Part From Shapes
Design is a 3D modeller in the browser. Add and cut spheres, boxes, cylinders, capsules, cones and tori, blend them together, type exact sizes, and export a watertight STL. Every shape stays editable, and nothing is uploaded. When the part is done, one click sends it to the viewer to check it prints. Read the user guide →
Live Boolean Shapes
Drag shapes onto the bed or onto each other, and switch any of them to Cut for holes, slots and pockets. Reorder the list to change what cuts what, and edit any shape at any time.
Exact Sizes & Blends
Type position, size, rotation, corner radius and blend radius in mm, align shapes to the model's edges, and snap to 1 mm and 15°. Blends fillet shapes together without swelling the part.
Mirror, Shell & Inspect
Mirror across X, Y or Z as you work, hollow a part to a wall thickness and cut openings through it, then review it with zebra stripes, curvature colours and a section view.
Export, Check & Render
Download STL, OBJ or PLY with a print check that flags loose parts and fixes them in one click. Render studio-lit PNGs up to 4K, and save editable .mtdesign projects.
Your Files Never Leave Your Machine
The viewer and scan tools run entirely in your browser — Three.js for rendering, a WebAssembly mesh engine for analysis and repair, and an on-device AI model for depth in Scan, so your webcam frames are never uploaded. No servers, no accounts — everything stays on your device unless you explicitly choose to send it, which only happens if you attach a file to a bug report.
Drop Your File
Drag and drop any supported file. The browser reads it directly from your local filesystem — nothing is sent anywhere.
Processed In-Browser
Three.js renders the model and a WebAssembly mesh engine runs the analysis — entirely inside your browser tab.
Zero Data Transmitted
No data is ever sent to a server. Refresh the tab and the model is gone. Completely private by design.
All three tools are live and free — no sign-up, no limits, no file-size restrictions.
3D Viewer
View and analyze 3D meshes, triangulate STEP/IGES CAD, run the print-readiness toolset, and export to STL, OBJ, or PLY.
Scan
Capture one webcam frame and turn it into a colourful 3D figure with AI depth — spin it, make it solid, and open it in the viewer. Nothing is uploaded.
Design
Model a printable part from live boolean shapes with blends and exact sizes, export a watertight STL, or send it to the viewer to check it.
