Check & Repair Your 3D Model
for Printing — Free, In Your Browser

Drop in an STL, OBJ, PLY, STEP or IGES file and MeshTune finds the holes, non-manifold edges and self-intersections that break a print — then repairs them to a watertight, printable mesh. Zero install, zero upload.

Nothing is uploaded. Processing happens in your browser, not on a server — no account, no limits. Files only leave your machine if you deliberately attach one to a bug report.

Everything You Need, In One Tab

Load almost any 3D file, check it for 3D printing, repair it to a watertight mesh, then measure, resize and export it — all in the browser, with nothing uploaded.

3D Viewer

STL, OBJ, PLY, STEP and IGES up to ~40M triangles. Display controls, dimensions, a transform gizmo, and a measure tool.

Mesh Analysis

8 automated checks for watertight, printable geometry — every issue highlighted in 3D and a click away.

3D Printing Toolset

Wall thickness, print orientation, overhangs, cross-section, volume & mass, build volume, and resize.

One-Click Repair

Fill holes, weld duplicate vertices, fix flipped faces and non-manifold edges — turning a broken mesh into a watertight, printable one in a single click.

Design It. Check It. Print It.

Don't have a file to fix? Make one. Design builds a printable part from simple shapes, and the Viewer checks it before you slice — two apps, one workflow, all in your browser.

01

Design

Add and cut spheres, boxes, cylinders and more. Blend them, type exact sizes in mm, mirror and hollow — every shape stays editable.

02

Open in Viewer

One click hands the finished, watertight solid to the Viewer: run the analysis, map wall thickness, pick the print orientation, check the build volume.

03

Print

Export STL, OBJ or PLY and slice it. Need a change? Go back to Design — your project autosaved, every shape still live.

Your Files Never Leave Your Machine

MeshTune runs entirely in your browser. There are no servers, no file uploads, and no accounts. Your 3D models stay completely private on your device.

01

Drop Your File

Drag and drop any supported file. The browser reads it directly from your local filesystem — nothing is sent anywhere.

02

Processed In-Browser

Three.js renders the model and a WebAssembly mesh engine runs the analysis — entirely inside your browser tab.

03

Zero Data Transmitted

No data is ever sent to a server. Refresh the tab and the model is gone. Completely private by design.

Every tool is live and free — no sign-up, no limits, no file size restrictions.

● Live

3D Viewer

View and analyze 3D meshes, triangulate STEP/IGES CAD, and export to STL, OBJ, or PLY. Run automated checks to verify your model is ready for 3D printing.

● Live

Webcam Scan

Turn a webcam capture into a 3D mesh — depth estimation and point-cloud reconstruction run entirely in your browser, then hand off to the viewer to clean up and export.

● Live

Design

Model with live boolean shapes — spheres, boxes, cylinders, cones and tori you can move, rotate and resize at any time. Every shape stays a shape, so edges and corners stay exact, and the export is watertight by construction.

Common Questions

Everything you need to know about MeshTune.

What 3D file formats does MeshTune support?

The 3D Viewer supports STL (binary and ASCII), OBJ with MTL material files and texture images (JPG, PNG), PLY including vertex-colored point clouds, and STEP and IGES CAD files which are triangulated on import. Any loaded model can be exported back out as STL, OBJ, or PLY.

Does MeshTune upload my files to a server?

No — MeshTune processes everything entirely inside your browser using Three.js and a WebAssembly mesh engine. Your 3D files are read directly from your local disk and are never transmitted anywhere. Refreshing the page clears all data.

How do I check if my STL is ready for 3D printing?

Open your STL in the 3D Viewer, expand the Analysis panel in the sidebar, and click Run Analysis. MeshTune checks for non-manifold edges, open holes, flipped faces, self-intersections, degenerate triangles, isolated vertices, and duplicate vertices. Click any found issue to fly the camera directly to the problem area in 3D.

How do I check wall thickness for 3D printing?

Open your model in the 3D Viewer, expand the Wall Thickness panel, set your minimum and maximum thickness in millimetres, and click Run Thickness Analysis. MeshTune measures the wall thickness at every point using a maximal-inscribed-sphere method and paints it as a heat map — red for walls below your minimum, fading through amber to green where they're safe. The pass is GPU-accelerated with WebGPU (with a CPU fallback), and you can zoom straight to the thinnest area.

What are non-manifold edges and why do they matter?

A non-manifold edge is an edge shared by more than two faces. Slicer software like Cura and PrusaSlicer model the mesh as a solid shell — non-manifold edges break that assumption and produce undefined or failed prints. MeshTune highlights non-manifold edges as yellow line segments directly in the 3D view so you can locate and fix them in your modelling software.

How do I view an OBJ file with textures?

Select the OBJ file, its MTL file, and any texture images (JPG or PNG) all at once using the file picker, or drag them all together into the drop zone. MeshTune automatically links the materials and textures without any manual setup.

Can I view very large 3D files?

Yes. The viewer handles meshes up to around 40 million triangles, and mesh analysis runs on meshes up to about 5 million triangles. There is no hard triangle limit for viewing — performance depends on your device's GPU and available RAM, so very large files may be slower on older hardware. Meshes too heavy to analyze can be reduced in-browser down to a workable size.

How do I repair an STL for 3D printing?

Open the 3D Viewer, drop in your file, and run the analysis — MeshTune flags open holes, non-manifold edges, flipped faces, self-intersections and duplicate vertices, each highlighted in 3D. Then click Repair to fill holes, weld duplicates and fix the winding, producing a watertight, manifold mesh you can export straight back to STL. See the STL repair guide for a full walkthrough. It all runs locally, so nothing is uploaded.

What's the difference between Design and the Viewer?

Design is where you make a part: build it from live shapes — add, cut, blend, type exact sizes — and export a watertight STL. The Viewer is where you check and prepare any mesh for printing: analysis, repair, wall thickness, print orientation, overhangs and build volume. When a design is done, Open in Viewer sends it across in one click, still without uploading anything. See the Design user guide.

Is MeshTune free?

Yes — MeshTune is completely free. There are no subscriptions, no sign-up requirements, and no feature limits. The site is supported by non-intrusive display ads.
